Scope

What these terms cover, and what they do not.

The site and the service are two different things, held under two different documents. Keeping them apart matters, because the site publishes a great deal about how we work and none of it is contractual.

These terms cover the website

Every page under this domain, including the published method, the styleguide, the illustrative examples and the enquiry form. They also cover the technical set we send on request, to the extent set out under intellectual property below.

The contract covers the engagement

Sourcing, assessment, curation, retirement, the evidence pack, pricing, the warranty and what happens if a specification cannot be filled. Those run on our terms of business and a signed specification. Where the two documents differ on anything to do with an engagement, the contract governs.

Our privacy notice explains how we handle personal data, and forms part of these terms.

Information only

Nothing here is an offer, a quote, or advice.

The site exists so that a prospective client can understand the method before commissioning anything. It is published for that purpose and no other.

  1. No price is published, and nothing here is a quote

A price is given against an agreed specification, reflects the market on the day it is given, and stands for seven days. Nothing on this site is an offer capable of acceptance, and submitting the enquiry form creates no contract and no obligation on either side.

  2. Illustrative content is illustrative

The claim language, the worked portfolio calculation, the wheel, the conservatism example and the sample evidence-pack pages are illustrations of how the method works. They are labelled as such wherever they appear. None is a delivered portfolio, an assessed project, or an approved claim.

  3. No claim on this site is approved for your use

Final claim wording is prepared for an organisation’s reporting boundary, claim period, emissions position and assurance requirements. You and your assurance provider remain responsible for what you publish.

  4. This is not legal, accounting, tax or assurance advice

The site describes standards, frameworks and regulatory expectations as we read them. It is not a substitute for professional advice on your own position, and the evidence pack we deliver is not an assurance opinion. Take your own advice before acting on anything here.

Accuracy / And change

The site describes the method as at a date.

We take care to keep it accurate and current, and we mark what is unsettled rather than presenting it as fixed. But the underlying standards move, the market moves, and the method is revised.

  • Band boundaries are working values. The band names are settled and the method is not changing, but the numeric thresholds are revised as the assessed universe grows. A portfolio is assessed against the boundaries in force at its date of assessment.
  • ISO 14060 is cited as ISO/DIS 14060:2026. Its requirements are treated as provisional until the final International Standard is published.
  • The method is versioned. A revision does not reach backwards. A portfolio remains assessed under the method contracted for its original claim period.
  • Content may change or be withdrawn at any time and without notice. We do not undertake to keep any page available.

We do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted, error-free or free of anything harmful, and we do not warrant that any figure, example or description will remain current. You are responsible for configuring your own equipment and for your own virus protection.

Intellectual property

Published to be read, checked and quoted.

The method is on this site so that a client, an auditor or an assurance provider can test it. That purpose only works if you are allowed to use it, so the permissions below are deliberately wide.

What you may do

  • Read, print and store pages for your own use.
  • Quote from the site, with attribution, in internal papers, board materials, tender responses and assurance files. That is what it is for.
  • Link to any page on this site.
  • Share the technical set internally, and with your assurance provider, for the purpose it was requested for.

What you may not do

  • Republish substantial parts as your own, or present the method as yours.
  • Use the published method, or the technical set, to build a competing screening or rating product.
  • Extract content systematically or by automated means, including for training a model.
  • Remove or alter any attribution, version marking or copyright notice.

All content on this site, the 360° Impact method and its scoring scale, the 360° Impact wheel, and the design of these pages are owned by Carbon Advisory Limited or used under licence. Our rights are reserved except as set out above.

Third-party names and marks. ISO, the Science Based Targets initiative, VCMI, ICVCM and the crediting programmes and registries named on this site are the marks of their respective owners. They are used descriptively, to identify the standards and bodies the method is mapped to. Their use does not imply endorsement of, affiliation with, or accreditation by any of them.

The Sustainable Development Goals. The SDG icons and the official goal colours are used in accordance with the United Nations guidelines for their use. The content of this site has not been approved by the United Nations, and it does not reflect the views of the United Nations, its officials or its Member States.

Acceptable use / And linking

Using the site, and linking to it.

Short version: use it as intended, and link to it freely.

You must not use this site unlawfully, attempt to gain unauthorised access to it or to any server or database connected with it, introduce anything malicious, or attack it in a way that affects its availability to others. You must not submit false or misleading information through the enquiry form, or use it to send unsolicited material. We will report material breaches to the relevant authorities and cooperate with them.

Linking in. You may link to any page, provided you do so fairly and in a way that does not damage our reputation or suggest an association or endorsement that does not exist. You may not frame the site on another, and we may withdraw permission to link at any time.

Linking out. Where the site links to a third-party site, we do so for information. We have no control over those sites and take no responsibility for their content or for any loss arising from your use of them.

Liability

What we are and are not responsible for.

This section concerns the website only. What we warrant on an engagement — the assessment, the claim category, the contracted band and the record behind them — is set out in the contract, and nothing here reduces it.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

Subject to that, the site is provided for information. To the extent permitted by law, we exclude all conditions, warranties and other terms that might otherwise be implied, and we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or reliance on, anything published here.

If you are a business user, we are not liable for loss of profits, loss of business, business interruption, loss of anticipated savings, or loss of business opportunity, whether direct or indirect.

If you are a consumer, these terms do not affect your statutory rights, and nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded in a consumer contract.

General

Law, changes and how to reach us.

These terms, and any dispute arising out of or in connection with them or with your use of this site, are governed by the law of England and Wales.

Jurisdiction and changes

The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, except that if you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the United Kingdom you may also bring proceedings in your own jurisdiction. We may revise these terms at any time by amending this page, and the version in force is the one published here when you use the site. The date at the top is the date of the current version.
